The Curious Girl (Second version)

I'm redoing The Curious Girl as an instrumental as I need to get hold of an instrumental for Open Mind on 23 November Where I shall be performing a couple of songs - I only have a 5 minute slot so two songs is all I have time for. I'm definitely doing The Curious Girl and not sure what the other one will be yet. Maybe (read more)

New tracks!

A couple of new instrumental original tracks now available on the Music Page for you to have a listen to!

Let me know what you think guys!

Brownie

I've been working with a friend called Brownie on two tracks - one a 6/8 stomper called Flesh Fetish, and one electropop one called Black Rainbow.

He performed them at a poetry/music reading and got an encore! Love it!

Friday Night Dinner

Friday Night Dinner is one of my new favourite shows! It's got the lad with glasses from The Inbetweeners in, along with one of the 'adults' from it, as a neighbour. I think one of the women is Ronnie Anconda but I'm not 100% on that.

I think that the show must have the same writers as The Inbetweeners, as the humour is pretty similar. It's great stuff.

In other news, I went to a mate's house last weekend and watched The Hangover 1. I'm not a fan. The humour is a bit slapstick and I was just sitting there, laughing a little out of politeness.

FL Studio

...So the dual-boot thing hasn't been working out well so I've decided to ditch Windows XP and ProTools in favour of FL Studio, formerly known as FruityLoops. Despite the name it is a serious piece of software, and it comes with quite a few synths which is cool. I have bought a book to help me so this should keep me out of trouble for a while!

Waiting in the freezing cold for the metrolink

OK it's not quite freezing cold but it feels cold to me. Who knows maybe I'm becoming a wimp on my old age but I am hating it. Also it's been 15mins and no metrolink. Damn 7am starts.

New Gym

I started at Pure Gym today - cancelled my LA Fitness membership last week and now I'm paying a third of the price! no pool or spa but I never used those anyway. There isn't a fixed-term contract like with most gyms, and it's much closer to my new job in spinningfields.

Not bad despite some of the chavvy/posey clientele.

Working PC, New Interface, New Speakers

My friend Kevin charitably decided to help me with reinstalling Windows 7 on this PC, and after a couple of hours thank god it's all working. And I even have the disk now so can reinstall if necessary!

I have obtained Ableton Live and will soon be installing Pro Tools 8 or 9 onto the system depending on which version comes with my new interface.

Next I shall work on a remix of Adele's Rolling In The Deep followed by some original tracks.

Working On Two New Tracks

I am currently working on two new tracks, one called 'Oxygen' and one tentatively-titled 'How', although I dislike the title 'How' for reminding me of a 90s children's tv show... I still have no PC so I'm writing in the old-fashioned sense, with a pencil and paper, and recording snippets of my voice onto the iPhone's Memo App. I do get bored of writing a songs fairly quickly (as the short length of my previous work will attest), so maybe this two-songs-at-once deal will work best with my short attention span. Only time will tell!

Nearly killed myself at the gym!

Today I ill-advisedly took a class at the gym called 'the Alesha Dixon dance workout' along with my sister and my mum... I had to leave early because I was gasping for breath after about 20mins nonstop! My sister and mum managed to stick it out for the full 45 minutes so I feel terribly ashamed, especially considering I go to the gym a lot more than either of them.
